What is a Radiologist?

A radiologist is a medical doctor specializing in the reading and interpretation of medical images such as X-rays, MRIs, Computed Tomography (CT) scans, mammograms, etc. Many years of training are required to be able to diagnose the presence of tumors and other abnormalities with a low rate of errors. Radiologists have four to six years of specialized training after becoming a doctor.

What is an Interventional Radiologist?

According to the Society of Interventional Radiology, an interventional radiologist is a medical doctor who performs minimally invasive, targeted treatments using imaging guidance. Interventional radiologists are board certified radiologists that are fellowship trained in interventional treatments using guided imaging. Their specialized training is certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
